“No man should go through life without once experiencing healthy, even bored solitude in the wilderness, finding himself depending solely on himself and thereby learning his true and hidden strength.” ~ Jack Kerouac

I am happy to be running...running to raise money and awareness for LLS with Team In Training. My journey is taking me onward. I recently ran the Rock 'n' Roll Chicago Half Marathon on August 14th and the Peapod Half Madness in Batavia on August 28th. Now it's forward to the Chicago Marathon on October 9th.

15 Albums Quickly

15 albums I've heard that will always stick with me.  This is my list...in no particular order...there are so many more in my head than just 15, so I'm taking the first ones that come to mind, regardless of the genre or era.  These are all certainly favorites of mine and influenced me in some strong way.

1.  "Pet Sounds" - The Beach Boys
2.  "Time Out" - The Dave Brubeck Quartet
3.  "Abbey Road" - The Beatles
4.  "Pleased to Meet Me" - The Replacements
5.  "Workingman's Dead" - The Grateful Dead
6.  "Violent Femmes" - Violent Femmes
7.  "Highway 61 Revisited" - Bob Dylan
8.  "Ramones" - The Ramones
9.  "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" - The Sex Pistols
10.  "American Idiot" - Green Day
11.  "Franz Ferdinand" - Franz Ferdinand
12.  "Wish You Were Here" - Pink Floyd
13.  "Fleetwood Mac in Chicago/Blues Jam in Chicago" - Fleetwood Mac (the blues band, recorded at Chess Records in 1969)
14.  "In Color" - Cheap Trick
15.  "Thick as a Brick" - Jethro Tull

Rambling thoughts on my list:

Ok...I'm certain I left a lot of good ones off...David Bowie should be there....I barely even touched the 1980's favorites of mine....and I wanted to put on "Hard Days Night" by The Beatles and "American Beauty" or "Europe 72" by the Dead.  I also wanted to put on "Frampton Comes Alive" but I put Cheap Trick on in place of it at the last minute.  In addition to "Wish You Were Here", I'm a big fan of "Dark Side of the Moon", "The Wall" and especially "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" by Floyd.  I didn't put any Zeppelin on here, which I should have.  One of my favs is also "Lincoln" by They Might Be Giants.  The complete Live at Budokan album that came out 15 years ago from Cheap Trick is better than the one from 1978 and I love to listen to the whole concert.  Once again, I didn't even touch any hair bands, 80's synth pop or 80's new wave or hardly any 80's alternative.  I would add "Document" or "Murmur" by R.E.M., too.  So there you go....it's my stab at 15 off the top o' my head.
